Send calls from your Twilio number to a Kollie AI agent using a Twilio Elastic SIP Trunk.

Kollie SIP details: SIP URI sip:luvjtjd3aor.sip.livekit.cloud · domain (without sip:) luvjtjd3aor.sip.livekit.cloud · transport TCP · inbound calls only (outbound calls over your own number aren't available yet). Full reference: Use your own phone number with SIP.

Transfers (agent → a person)Call Transfer (SIP REFER)Only if the agent transfers calls

Before you start

  • An active Twilio account and a Twilio number with voice capability.
  • A Kollie agent that is already set up.

Twilio's own reference is its Elastic SIP Trunking documentation.

Part 1: Add your number in Kollie

  1. Add the number
    • Go to My Numbers → Add Your Number.
    • Select the country and enter your Twilio number exactly as it appears in Twilio. Then click Add.
  2. Attach it to an agent
  3. Note Kollie's SIP URI
    • Kollie's SIP URI is sip:luvjtjd3aor.sip.livekit.cloud. You'll use it in step 6.

Part 2: Build the trunk in Twilio

  1. Create the trunk

    • In the Twilio Console, open Elastic SIP Trunking → Trunks → Create new trunk.
    • Give it a name such as kollie. The name is only for your own overview.
  2. Turn on transfers (optional)

In the trunk's General settings, enable:

    • Call Transfer (SIP REFER), so the agent can hand calls over.
    • PSTN Transfer, which you also need for transfers to external phone numbers.

    Notes:

    • Twilio only supports blind transfers here: the agent can't speak to the recipient before handing over.
    • Twilio bills transfers to external numbers at its normal rates.
  3. Set the Origination URI

Under Origination, add Kollie's SIP URI followed by these two parameters:

    sip:luvjtjd3aor.sip.livekit.cloud;edge=frankfurt;transport=tcp

PartPurpose
sip:luvjtjd3aor.sip.livekit.cloudKollie's SIP URI, where Twilio delivers calls
edge=frankfurtThe Twilio edge location closest to Kollie
transport=tcpThe protocol used for SIP signalling

Copy it exactly. A stray space or a missing semicolon is enough for Twilio to reject it.

  1. Attach your number to the trunk

Under Numbers, add the Twilio number you added in Kollie. Calls to numbers that aren't attached to this trunk won't reach Kollie.

Test checklist

Inbound

  • Call the Twilio number from another phone. The attached agent answers.
  • The caller's real number appears in Agent Calls History.
  • Audio works in both directions.

Transfers

  • During a test call, ask the agent to transfer you.
  • The transfer target is in international format and appears in the Twilio logs.

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to check
Inbound calls don't reach KollieThe number is attached to the trunk · the Origination URI is enabled and complete · edge and transport are spelled correctly · the same number is on a Kollie number card with an agent attached
Call reaches Kollie but nobody answersThe number on the Kollie card matches the Twilio number exactly, including + · the Agent row on the card shows an agent
Transfers failCall Transfer (SIP REFER) is enabled · PSTN Transfer is enabled for external numbers · the target is in international format · your Twilio account may call the destination country · a child call appears in Twilio's voice logs

You can find failed calls in the Twilio Console under Monitor → Logs → Voice.
